Half Day Outer Reef Snorkel Adventure

Added bonus that we saw whales and the boat slowed so we could get plenty of photos

5.0 Great setup with dedicated smiling staff. Informative half hour presentation of the reef in nice pontoon, Cairns Marina. Well done Seb! Nice new gear that all fitted well. Good safety instruction. The way back and forth was bumpy, since there were some wind, boat is not that big. But is was safe.
We went to very nice reef, as good af Lady Musgrave.
Instructors in water gives a good start around the reef wall, points out e.g. anemonefish, and gives safety to others with ring in the water. Skilled crew worked hard - while smiling - all tour! Advice: Take the 1-2 sea sick pills they provide. Bring warm sweatshirt for the way back. Don't go when windy if you can't swim.

5.0 I was in Cairns for one more day for a work conference and wanted to make the most of being right by the reef! This tour was perfect as it was a half day tour with 2 hours of snorkelling on the outer reef! The team totally made the experience. The weather was not good (I'd suggest taking anti-sea-sickness meds!) and bumpy on the way out, but the crew were very attentive to everyone. Once at the reef the snorkelling was really beautiful and crew took you around on a tour to make sure you got the most of the experience. Over all - an epic experience - a big thank you to Kiki, Cam, Jared & Simon for a great day!

5.0 We had an excellent time and would recommend anyone wanting to snorkel on the reef to go with pure snorkeling. The reef was beautigul with a great range of fish and corals. The staff were extremely lovely and knowledgable, we really appreciated how patient and helpful they were with anxious snorkellers.

5.0 This was our first trip to the Reef. It was amazing! First, we heard an optional talk about the reef and things that lived there. I was nervous about the sharks. After the presentation I felt so much better about it. I realized I was not going to get eaten and they were more afraid of me. Next, we got all our gear, including a wet suit. Then we took off. This was a smaller boat, I’m guessing about 25-30 people. It was windy so the hour and half ride was a little rough. Definitely take your Dramamine before you board. Once anchored you were put into your group by ability. They had several staff in the water pointing out cool things. It was great. Afterwards we had cheese and crackers on our way back home. Great introduction to the reef.

5.0 Great 1/2 day tour. A comfortable ride out and fantastic snorkeling. The crew were very friendly. The smaller group meant great interaction with the guides and at 5 hours, a perfect length of trip if you don't want a 8-9hour tour.

5.0 A brilliant trip, with a very friendly informative crew. Jaime and Laurence really looked after us and were a source of information about the Great Barrier Reef. The talk before the main trip is definitely worth attending as they explain what you are going to see on the your day. Safety is paramount and the equipment they give you to use is first class. Wet suits , snorkels , flippers etc are all provided along with floating aids if needed which we would recommend. The reef we went to was stunning and exceeded our expectations.
The boat itself is only a year or so old and not to big so they can look after all passengers easily.

5.0 We had an incredible day on the water with our family. The entire crew made us feel right at home & safe the entire time. Our 8- and 5-year-olds were able to put their fears aside and see some amazing things. A shark, a turtle, and so many parrot fish! Our Crew that day was Alex: Captain, Snorkel guides: Kiki, Seb, Laurence, Beth, and Photographer: Monica. Thank you all for an experience we will treasure forever.

5.0 We had lousy weather ( remember to take your motion sickness tablets and dry warm clothes to change into) but nevertheless the experience was well worth it. Mainly because of the staff - everyone from Jamie in the office through to the boat crew was genuinely friendly and enthusiastic.
And they worked together so well as a team. Very safety conscious. They were in the water with us guiding us around the reef and pointing out the sights.

After the snorkel there were good ( free) snacks some fruit, cheese, crackers and dips. Tea and coffee.
Can buy beer too!

There are cheaper snorkeling trips from Cairns and the coral and fish are probably the same, but for the extra $ you feel welcomed and safe plus: they are a locally owned company, relatively new but they certainly came across as seasoned professionals.

Oh the Marine Biology talk at 10.30am is a great, informative no- cost extra.

5.0 Perfect. Very safety conscious. Really nice gear to use. Clean new boat. Very friendly and involved staff who acted as guides. Perfect, a fabulous snorkelling experience. Faultless. Locally owned too, would absolutely go again!! We saw a monster turtle and a huge variety of sea life. Loved it. Take a very warm top for the boat ride home.

We unfortunately had to leave Cairns early so couldn't go out to the reef. Will definitely book direct with Pure Snorkel next time we are in town.
